The Project Manager for Grassroots Football in Iran, Somayeh Dehghanian, has announced the official start of the registration process for football schools across the country. As per the annual activity calendar for the Grassroots Football project, registration for players has now opened in tandem with the commencement of the 2025 (1404) football school season.

In an exclusive statement to the official website of the Football Federation, Dehghanian outlined the key steps in this year's registration process, which include signing up through the official football school system, conducting educational workshops for coaches and administrators, and implementing child protection training. Additionally, a ranking process for football schools, coordinated with youth and grassroots committees from across Iran's provinces, is set to be a priority.

Dehghanian emphasized the critical role families play in selecting the right football school for their children, urging parents to carefully consider the educational environment before enrolling their children. “We strongly advise families to seek consultation with local football associations in their provinces and districts before making any registration decisions. Ensuring the legitimacy of football school activities and being informed about the rules and guidelines are crucial for the safety and quality of football education,” she said.

In her statement, Dehghanian also addressed concerns regarding the potential for misconduct and violations within the grassroots football sector. “If any irregularities are observed, families should immediately contact the provincial or district football associations to ensure appropriate measures are taken to address or correct the issue. Furthermore, families are urged to report any misleading advertisements or promises related to player transfers to foreign clubs, as these are often false and unauthorized.”

Grassroots Football Coaching Education on the Rise

On a positive note, Dehghanian also shared her satisfaction with the progress of grassroots coaching education across Iran. “We are thrilled that special coaching courses for grassroots football coaches are currently being held in collaboration with provincial football associations.
